2020

The 2020 games returned to Worplesdon on 16th August 2020. In an exceptional year, when Covid 19 was causing havoc around the world a small band assembled at Goose Dale. The debilitating hot weather had just broken and the parched grass and flower beds were soaking up every drop of rain. Dodging scudding showers we were determined that the competition for senior and junior champion would be as fiercely fought as in previous years.

Megan and Mark

Peter, Sally and Juliet

Tanya and Ravi

Claire and Otis

The junior obstacle race was hard fought between Tiana, Isaac and Otis. The final shoot for goal saw all three footballs miss their target. Isaac was first to retrieve his wayward ball and successfully kick it home.

The adults were variously challenged with a sack race, space hopper horse race and when clouds threatened retreated under the patio brolly to paint a rock and design a bridge. Needless to say there were only a few budding civil engineers. Hannah joined us on FaceTime from America to judge the most artistic paperweight.

Peter came armed with an extensive array of water pistols. Most dodged his onslaught, but Otis rose to the challenge and successfully drenched his mother Claire.

The final scores saw an impressive win by Ravi as senior champion, the junior medal going to Isaac. Well done.

Those unable to attend were greatly missed this year. We hope 2021 will see the country return to normality and friends and family can gather safely.
